I love when polyamorous people say this.
They say it to so many people, yet the implication of the grammar in this declaration is that it’s only meant to be said to one person.
It’s not that anyone is lying when they say this, or that they are trying to say they have a different heart full of love for each person.
But you would never suggest to a person with two best friends to say “I love you, BFF #1, with half of my heart, the other half is for BFF #2. Well actually, not even half. You have to consider the part that loves each of my family members, and all my other friends, which I obviously love less because they aren’t my best friends, and also my coworkers that I really like take up some room, and you know I just really love chocolate fondue and summer nights and astrophysics and Natalie Portman is just so dreamy, and, man I really do not have any room left in my heart I hope I never fall in love or have children where would I put that love?”
It’s just that the love that a heart holds is infinite, so you can say “I love you with all my heart” to everyone, and you can so very passionately mean it, and it will mean absolutely everything to absolutely every one of them, every single time.

now if only you could mount this on every ceiling ever, so we don’t get shipwars or IRL people caught up in tug-of-wars...
